It examines and compares faith in the UK, Germany, Italy and India and the changes and loss of faith in these countries during the Victorian era. As well as discussing agnosticism, the book considers alternatives to faith, such as scientific discourse and the influence of society on Christianity and the influence of Christianity on society.
