Ethnographic Decision Tree Modeling

Ethnographic Decision Tree Modeling refines decision modelling by a number of techniques specific to the qualitative researcher. Ethnographic techniques are used to elicit the criteria of the informant for making decisions and are more sensitive to native understanding and cultural context. The decision trees are built to graph formally the individual’s set of criteria and compare them with other informants. The author explains the building and testing of ethnographic decision tree models in a didactic, step-by-step fashion, beginning with simple decisions and moving to more complex choice patterns.
