preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States,
an extraordinary range of power and responsibility is placed on each new president.
The Presidency
is an intriguing exploration into what it means to be the president of the United States. Since April 30, 1789, when George Washington stepped onto the balcony of Federal Hall in New York City, 43 men have assumed the title of President of the United States. This book examines how these men have each put their own stamp on the executive branch, and discusses how it has evolved as a reflection of their personalities and their visions for the country.
