First Settlers in Georgia, Volume 2, Abstracts of English Crown Grants in St. George Parish,1755-1775
Pat Bryant
From 1732 until the Georgia charter was resigned to the English Crown in 1752, all leases of land made to settlers could not be mortgaged, sold, or otherwise disposed of. After Georgia became a Royal Province, fee simple grants giving a clear title to the recipient were required to be made. This publication offers the second volume of these royal grants abstracted, covering the counties of Burke, Glascock, Jefferson, Jenkins, and Screven which were originally all or part of St. George Parish.
