During the 1930s, the Works Project Administration (WPA) contracted workers to complete a variety of tasks. In Iowa, projects were undertaken in most counties to record the occupants of the cemeteries in the county. These projects were then prepared and provided to local repositories for reference.
In this volume, the information from the 1930s WPA project has been arranged for ease of use and clarifies inconsistencies. Entries are grouped by cemetery and arranged alphabetically by surname. Each entry includes the full-name and date of death, plus any combination of the following (as available): date of birth, son/daughter/wife/husband of, military service (name of conflict, with unit and branch listed for some veterans), age at death, and/or comments. Brief descriptive information has been provided for each cemetery. The majority of the burials are in Harlan Cemetery.
2021, 81/2x11, paper, alphabetical, 90 pp.
