The curious reader will not need to hunt for sources to gain an historical perspective on what has led to how we teach children to read.

As a reader I always want to know more about a source found in a book. Just finding a bibliography is not enough for me. If you are a curious reader interested in the history of reading instruction you will appreciate the annotated bibliographies that are included at the end of each section. In order to better understand the ways children are taught to read the more information about the sources used to explain the methods the better for the reader.

The more we know the better able we are to use a method for further research or for use in the classroom. Knowledge is power and the more information we have about techniques for teaching children to read the better able we are to meet the needs of all children.
