The Saints of Egypt

The text aims at providing a compendium of information about the martyrs and other saints honored in the Coptic Church, for the most part following the biographies given in the Jacobite (Egyptian) Synaxarium , but with some additional matter necessary to illustrate those lives. The contents include: Part I - Foundation of the Church of Alexandria and List of Patriarchs, The Coptic Language, The Egyptian Martyrs, Egyptian Monasticism, Sources for the Lives of the Saints, Coptic Calendar; and Part II - Brief Accounts of the Egyptian Martyrs and other Saints Commemorated in the Synaxarium, Arranged Alphabetically.
