What does one really get from psychotherapy? The grand results depicted in fictional accounts, or even some professional articles, are rarely achieved because the results are inevitably bittersweet. This work aims to help therapists achieve a mutual goal with their patients by exploring and explaining a broad range of clinical work, including assessing the patient and formulating a clinical picture, resistance, transference, interpretation, working through, and termination.
