AUTHOR: Captain Ralph Dean (US Navy, retired) is a veteran of over 28 years on active duty as a naval aviator. His extensive experience in the Maritime Patrol community includes numerous assignments as patrol plane commander, mission commander, and instructor pilot in the P-3 Orion, as well as multiple command tours.
