Beloved Image: The Drama of W. B. Yeats - 1865-1939

This work on Yeats probes the depths of the poet’s visual imagination. It covers his 24 major plays, and analyses the text for the poetic cinematographic, theocentric, cosmological, biotechnical and dramatic elements of the poet’s vision. The author also establishes the various ways that the poet attempted to embrace all of the laws of human fate. In addition, she shows how Yeats included his knowledge of Japanese religious theatre, Victorian poetry, French symbolism, and American inventiveness.
