Talking About Cultural Diversity in Your Church: Gifts and Challenges

To have an effective ministry in the US, outside or inside the church, Christians need to be aware of how people’s culture affects the ways they think and live. This text provides classes, workshops or small groups the opportunity to discuss issues of multiculturalism. The book presents what culture means to show how understanding and misunderstandings of culture affects American society. The text encourages readers to be aware of their own cultural background and how their own cultural assumptions can colour their relationships with others. It then highlights special skills for communicating between cultures and the special challenges for religion in a pluralistic society. The book itself is centred around 11 case studies along with discussion questions. These cases allow participants to see how their understanding of culture have real world implications, while the questions let participants talk about these difficult issues.
