The Lawmakers

The Lawmakers on the planet Chetner live in City 1. Those who do not keep their rules are exiled to Middle City. Medrix has been sent from the Planet Estolan to spy on the exiles. He is furious when he has to look after a fifteen year old girl who has been exiled because she wanted to play The game. He takes her to Middle City in spite of the fact that somebody tries to kill them. He is attracted to her but is cross with her because of it. She settles into Middle City but manages to challenge The Elders Of City 1 to a game and because of their rules they have to accept. He is told to stop the game but fails to do so. Her team play and win. The Grand Elder says that any favours she asks for will be given her. She wants all the inhabitants of City 1 to go home. Her wish is granted and they go home and Medrix goes with them. He swears that one day he will come back and have his revenge. Eight years later the Lawmakers bring her to trial, because they have proof that she cheated in order to win the game by using magic. Medrix is her counsellor and has been told to rig the trial. Several attempts are made on her life. Bit by bit he unravels a web of deceit and learns of her terrible childhood. After the trial he goes back to Chetner as a liaison officer but he becomes The Controller of all Chetner. Celisia is missing presumed dead. Many people think that this is his revenge. But is it? Bit by bit the story unravels to an exciting end that twists and turns to the final scene.
