The existing report was published in 2005. Since then, technological advances have been staggering across most imaging modalities. This means that the current testing guidance does not cover all functions of the equipment. It covers routine equipment performance testing for all modalities including x-ray tubes and generators, imaging receptors, fluoroscopy systems, dental equipment, computed tomography and mammography. It also details the role of equipment performance testing in the equipment life cycle and provide guidance as to the management of quality assurance programmes and legislative requirement. The current Report is considered a valuable document that is widely used throughout the UK and the world. It includes film technology that is now obsolete. A timely update to this current publication is essential.
