Supporting Disabled Physicists In Academia

The aim of this book is to provide academics and staff within physics and related subjects with a detailed and informative guide to the needs and adaptations required to accommodate a range of disabled people within the university environment, from undergraduate and postgraduate students through to staff at all levels. The book will also feature a guide towards a range of disabilities and long-term health conditions that may be encountered that will require accommodation. This will include physical and mental health-based disabilities, including neurodiverse conditions such as Autism and ADHD, as well as mobility and visual impairments. Divided into four parts, the book will introduce EDI (Equity/Equality, Diversity and Inclusion), with a focus upon disabilities. The author will examine the accommodations and adaptions needed within a physics department to make it a more accessible and inclusive environment, and provide case studies of both successes and failings at disability support and inclusion.
