The book will review worldwide karst problems, including those in the Dead Sea. Different geophysical methodologies for resolving of these problems will be described and explained.
The first part of the book will present an overview of the karst problem worldwide. It will include general classifications of the karst types, solubility of rocks, distribution of different types of karst through the world, geophysical methods applied to karst and sinkhole problem resolving. The second part will focus on Dead Sea evaporite karst, including its features and methods of investigation. This section will also include a review of geophysics for karst investigation in different karst regions, such as Florida and Virginia (USA), Dinarid karst in Yugoslavia, travertine karst in Italy, evaporite karst in Spain and others. The Third and Fourth parts of the book will contain a general review of geophysical methods for karst investigation and features of geophysics for investigation of different aspects of the DS karst and sinkholes, respectively. The third part of the book will present practically all geophysical methods that have been applied. For each method, the authors will provide a short description and the methodology of application under Dead Sea coast conditions.
