This work provides an introduction to an important body of Islamic writing - the creeds, or statements of belief of theologians who have exerted a significant influence on the development of Islamic thought. Containing English translations of a selection of such creeds, it gives background information on the major theological issues involved. The book is intended as a sourcebook for scholars of Islamic theology, as well as for students of religion.
