Robert Adam

This book brings together the latest research on Robert Adam, his life and his work. It gives new insights into the character of the architect and his lively and at times strained relationship with his brother William. His architecture is examined in detail with a particular look at the phenomenon of the Adam Revival style of the 1860s to 1940s - a style which manifested itself in the drawing rooms of the well-to-do, the ballrooms of transatlantic liners and in the ubiquitous Adam fireplace.
