Maggie Humm
This is a collection of writings which reflects feminist models created from a broad mix of interdisciplinary research, teaching and debate. These models are intended to transform knowledge while sustaining a politics which challenges the oppressive treatment of women. The excerpts represented here draw upon critical, polemical and creative prose writings in English, from Virginia Woolf to Adrienne Rich. It includes a selection from the pioneering works of Simone de Beauvoir, Kate Millett and Betty Frieden, as well as statements and documents from black, white and women of colour feminist writers in contemporary Britain, America and France. It is intended that the book introduce the reader to the main feminist ideas and perspectives on such issues as the family, sexuality, work, education, patriarchy, race, language, culture and representation.
