Jim comes home from work to an empty apartment and turns on his computer. He begins chatting with a woman with whom he has a date later that night. (Note: the audience reads their dialog on side screens.) She creates a flimsy excuse and cancels. Left with no plans, he visits a few chat rooms but each fails to give him what he is looking for. Finally, he finds a new website designed for lonely people but Jim’s virtual friend is clearly not making any real connection. This is a humorous but powerful look at the pseudo-community created by technology.
