Whether adults realize it or not, the world we portray shows children and teens that alcohol is an important part of enjoying life. It is only natural during the years a teen is exerting rights and seeking independence, that they’d want to try what we inundate them with in messaging as a good time. This fact of life is what leads us to the controversial, contentious, and never-ending debate on teen rights and alcohol. This collection of essays analyzes many issues related to alcohol, including the national minimum drinking age, the liability of adult hosts of social gatherings where minors are served alcohol, the prospect of a graduated alcohol licensing system that would loosen restrictions for people aged 18 to 20, and the growing trend of mandatory alcohol testing at high school dances.
