Newly married to Bill Wyndham, Andrea’s life as minister of Nyddford with Nyddbeck is busier than ever. Though happy in her marriage and fulfilled by her work, she feels torn in many directions, and the strain is starting to show. There are so many calls on Andrea’s time, so many people who need her. Paula Price, for instance, is a newcomer to the village who turns to Andrea for help when her father dies leaving her to manage their guest-house on her own. And at Abbott’s Farm, Julie’s marriage to Dave Bramley is strained by her husband’s constant jealousy, and by the challenge of dealing with her teenage step-daughter, Carla. She too seeks the help of her friend, and turns to Andrea. But for once, it is Andrea who needs guidance and support. Tired and vulnerable, she begins to wonder whether she can cope with the demands of her vocation, whilst still being a good wife to Bill.
