My North Star is, above all, a love story, but it is much more than that: family feuding; the reading of a will that surprises, angers, and amazes those involved; tenderness, laughter and great sadness. Through this weaves a memorable cast of characters: Lady Ruth the mistress of the Hall, unlikeable Aunt Veronica; the wise family solicitor and Robin’s parents. His down-to-earth mother (the North star of the title) is a bringer of the good things in life in the form of food.
