Catalogue of Lamps Vol. IV: Lamps of Metal and Stone, and Lampstands

This volume discusses lampstands and lamps made of metal. Drawn from several British Museum Departments, including Greek and Roman, Egyptian, Prehistoric and Romano-British and Medieval and Later Antiquities, all the material is illustrated in the plates, showing the diversity of forms that derive from the lamps’ being produced in one-off moulds. The bronze and brass lamps range from simple plain specimens to those of remarkable complexity and some that are vulgar.
