Live Fearlessly: Stand on your own

Dustin Shillcox was raised in a small town of 12,000 in Wyoming. He grew up to become your everyday normal, active adult, until tragedy struck in 2010 when he became paralyzed by an automobile accident, rendering his body devoid of feeling from the chest down. At the age of 26, and in the prime of his life, he was told he would never stand again.

Then Dustin discovered that only faith will keep you going. FEARLESSLY

He was selected to participate in an experimental spinal cord stimulation program conducted by the Kentucky Spinal Cord Injury Research Center. The hope was that the net result would cause growth that had been curtailed by the injuries he sustained. He can now stand and is able to move his legs.

You don’t have to survive a life-changing event like I did to find out who you are, Dustin says.

The Dustin Shillcox Foundation was established to improve the lives of people in wheelchairs, raise money for spinal cord research and to give hope to those affected by spinal cord injuries. When people hear Dustin’s story, whether they have been impacted by paralysis or not, a vision for themselves or their friends and relatives becomes clear. It is for these reasons and more, that Dustin feels a strong desire to share his story with the public.
