Rizz Murphy moves back to her hometown Lake Forest ten years after her family suddenly picked up and moved in order to escape a life altering incident that only lead her mother into a deeper drunken rage. As Rizz struggles to keep her abusive alcoholic mother a secret and maintain an image of perfection to her peers, she is slowly found out by private school boy Lance McCartney. Lance has a few secrets of his own though. Growing up in Lake Forest wasn’t easy for him as he adjusted from bouncing to foster home to foster home until he met his Guardian Angels. Things began to look up for Lance. He had two loving parents, a home, and a best friend, Thom. Until one day an accident tears not only his family apart but Thom’s as well. Thom Downey has always been someone who felt deeply, and when the accident alters his life he finds himself unable to cope with the pain and grief. Lance had always been his best friend ever since they met in private school, but when Lance begins to act as if nothing is affecting him and as if the accident never happened it becomes too much for Thom to handle.
