Angie Prescotte is Swift River Valley’s most successful race driver of the season. She’s lonely, though, raising her daughter without Tugs, who died before Auronia was born. Lucky O'Roarke, whom readers met in Jim Overturf’s last book, has a family of his own. His daughter Olivia, and his niece and nephew, Sophia and Jason. Gentleman that he is, he helped during Angie’s third race, getting her bottles of water, and assisting her in and out of the car. Angie is impressed, and decides, after her excitable day, that she will ask Lucky about his faith. They discuss the intricacies of the bible, and decide to meet for bible studies.
