Seeking Faith: Lessons On Grace

Life is like this, one night you go to sleep as master of the universe and then something unpleasant wakes you up. We are in control and then we are not. Actually, we never were. My road to this realization was slow and leisurely. Seeing it as folly was not the greatest challenge. The true test was the near impossible task of separating myself from pride and embracing God’s truth with the same fearful heart that knows all too well the sorry road I have gladly, if not boastfully walked until now. These essays, or more affectionately, these devotionals that follow are one man’s humble record of the questions, confrontations, exercises and merciful revelations that God’s word has led me through in a discipleship that began when I was fifty-five. I don’t claim a perspective more unique or illuminating than any other, but if you accept that my intention is to offer one man’s humble appraisal of the many transformative moments he experienced on the road to faith, then you will have the perspective from which I wish to begin. I pray, that like Barnabus, they will encourage and accompany you on your own road in faith.
