Alkurah is a world with a history of magic and legends long past. Now, with the Korzian Empire nearing two thousand years of rule, the magic of the world is leaving. As the magic wanes and humanity finds itself struggling to continue their brutish ways of the past, old heroes and new ones are forced into action. Some literally, as Korz has need of soldiers, and conscripts just about anyone these days. As humanity struggles, the orcs of the Rofu Empire extend their reach into Alkurah for the first time. Their leader, Grimfilth, has whipped them into something resembling a nation, and they’re starting to act like it. Demanding trade routes be opened, sacking major cities, and accepting volunteers with a promise of land and food for life, the Rofu are quickly becoming more of a threat than they’ve ever been. At such a time of incendiary conflicts, it is no surprise that one of the oldest, most powerful tools of the ancient heroes is found. Not by a prince, or lord, or man worthy of it, but by Garroway, a whoring gambler who had exiled himself from Korz and come home with a map given to him by a drunk dwarf. With it, he found the armor of Tykus, who slew the ancient god of the dead, Req, and assumed his throne in Godhall. Unbeknownst to Garroway, there were plans for such a weapon as the armor in place long before he stumbled upon it, and the fate of the world is not to be decided by the Pawns of the Shadow.
