Welcome to Living on the Edge Radio… Part Two My name is Andrea Hylen and I am your host tonight.
And so began the introduction of forty-four internet radio shows aired over the holidays in 2010. Twenty-seven guests and seventeen personal stories with the host. The Eleven radio show conversations highlighted in this book are unique expressions of loss and grief and involve experiences of the death of ourselves; a cycle of life that closes one door before opening the door to the new cycle. A loss that is connected to our perceived value and identity. Some guests called it, Dark Night of the Soul, the Hero’s Journey, Letting Go of Myself, or Finding my True Voice. They shared vulnerable stories about a house fire, a job loss, a divorce. a parent’s dementia, transforming loss to self-love, signs from a deceased loved one and ceremonies to release the old. And one guest shared his transgender transition to a transman and the process of grief for himself, his family and friends, as they let go of the female persona he had been required to use since birth, just to function in the world. Now, he embraced the man he always knew himself to be..
