Suprit and the Backpack Yak
William Schwein
When a young boy in the mountains of Nepal is injured in a devastating earthquake, being confined to a wheelchair is not his only concern. He worries that his friends have to carry burdensome backpacks on their way to and from school. Because Suprit is not only caring, but clever, he comes up with a plan. His unique idea will bring relief to his classmates, a renewed sense of purpose to an old farmer named Pawan, and a remarkable use for a beloved yak.
