Milt Chaney’s Tavern opens with a murder which brings to life a popular theory that Chaney killed his victims using an anvil which was later found on his property. The story follows railroad crew foreman Thaddeus O'Donnell whose work crew uncovered a number of bodies while digging near the tavern in 1888. He, along with his trusted railroad foreman Big George McAfee, is determined to solve the mystery of the discovered bodies. Carter Bradshaw is on a mission to find out what happened to his grandfather who disappeared 30 years before. He believes two of the bodies found at the discovery site may belong to his grandfather and his coachman. Set in 1888, Lancaster County Sheriff Baron Haile is the grandson of the sheriff at the time of Milt Chaney’s crimes. Haile wants to clear his grandfather’s name for never having solved the mystery of disappearances thought to have occurred at the hands of Milt Chaney. Thaddeus O'Donnell, Carter Bradshaw, and Baron Haile each have a special interest in the innkeeper’s turbid past. Their efforts intersect to give light to what might have actually happened at the tavern. It creates a good ending. Everything comes together like a good TV movie.
