IMPROVISATION on the ii-V7-I & BLUES Progressions For the Beginner and Beyond
David Jerome Rice
This book is a method of study for the beginning music student who desires to learn to improvise his/her instrument in a jazz or blues idiom. The ii-V-I progression and blues progression are the most important progressions for the beginning music student. There are variations of the ii-V-I progression which we will also explore in this study. This tutorial includes several written music examples that have been written for concert instruments, Bb instruments, Eb instruments, and F instruments. The music examples have been written in such a way that the student may play his/her instrument reading the appropriate transposed score.
