Detective Samantha Brae has worked hard to become the youngest forensic detective in Black Ridge, Arkansas. Through her career, she has seen men commit evil, but never anything like the latest series of murders to traumatize her sleepy little town. While searching for a killer who leaves behind virtually no evidence, she is given clues that lead her down a dark and dangerous path. As more evidence comes to light, she begins to believe she might be on the trail of a vampire. Soon she is drawn into a new world and she begins to learn that what she thought she knew about vampires was completely wrong. She quickly becomes divided as to how she should proceed.
