You know you are reading a good book when you don’t want it to end. Well, as the book thundered toward its conclusion, I didn’t want it to end…. and when it did, I cried! As the action intensifies, the book becomes mesmerizing, meaningful and magical….. the reader is ‘on the hook, ’ but Dutch takes care of the reader, too…. his willingness to be vulnerable and explore the complex emotional landscape of the characters is the hallmark of a great read. I can’t wait to be back on the prairie with Tom, Soft Cloud, Buck and their ponies for the next two parts of the trilogy!

What a ride! You only thought you knew what was going to happen next. I liked the fast moving, action packed plot while enjoying the little vignettes about the various characters. It’s a western through and through, in the same vein as Louis L'Amour or Zane Grey. If I was a teacher, it’d be required reading for my class.
