The 524 Project was a unique program held in 2014 that connected two high school classrooms in Detroit and DC for a hybrid curriculum of poetry and playwriting that tackled stereotypes of both cities. Held simultaneously in Detroit and DC, The 524 Project linked the classrooms together using iPads and Google Hangouts, allowing students in both cities to learn from each other and share their work. This book is a compilation of the many incredible poems and short plays that came out of The 524 Project, along with data demonstrating the Project’s impact on its students. We hope that you enjoy these pieces and use them to hold your own version of the Project with students in your area!
