Tammy Kelly Feimer, has been an educator for 21 years. On February 27, 2011 her whole world was changed forever. Mark Allen McGowan, her 24 year old son, took his own life by committing suicide. As a result of this tragic event, Tammy felt she wanted to do something to help others who may have experienced the same thing as she and her family experienced. She felt it in her heart to write a book, Life in the Slow Lane, about her experiences as a mother who has lost a child to suicide. By writing this book, she was able to come to terms with the reality of suicide and the effects it will continue to have on her and her family for the rest of their lives.She evaluates the events that led up to the suicide, her emotions and day to day struggles while going through this tragedy and loss, her memories of her son, and her solution to finding peace.
