Never Forgotten: The Journey
Scott Thomas Meyers
Many of us have felt the sting of loss in a personal relationship… the brokenness we felt of not having that intimate relationship that we once experienced. Then, there is the state of being lost, which is an entirely different set of emotions or state of being. Is it possible for a person to have a loving, committed relationship with God and be separated from His presence? Is it possible to once walk with God and serve Him with all your heart and soul and then be separated from his love? From a personal stand point, I do believe that a person can be a Born Again Christian, experience the joy of relationship with God, and yet for some reason, choose to walk away. Nothing can separate us from the choice we made to walk with God… that is, except for ourselves. It is our personal choice to either have a relationship with God, or not. Many of us have read or heard the Parable of the Prodigal Son, over and over. It is a beautiful story of a wayward son and the unconditional love of his father. It isn’t something that happens overnight. Rather, it is a journey that transpires over a length of time. It is a story of longing and desire of both good and evil. It is a story of unconditional love, selflessness from the father, and a story of his child’s selfish desires to make his own path in this world. However, there is so much more to this story than meets the eye. This is a story of humility, repentance, and eventually reconciliation with God, the Father. The following story is a personal and true account of one child who wandered lost through the barren, desert wastelands of this world, and then found God’s acceptance, love, and grace. It is a story of a beautiful relationship that was formed between the Heavenly Father and His child. This book attempts to show the shame of how a broken-hearted child willingly walked away from his loving Father and the devastation that followed in the aftermath. Yet, just like the Prodigal Son, this is a story of the Father’s longing and desire for His child that is lost and dead to Him, waiting and hoping as He looks down the dusty road off into the sunset to see once again His child return home. Hindsight is 20/20 and looking back, now, I can see that every choice that I made along this journey… every path I took… has led me to this point of where I am, today. Every experience has molded me into the individual that I have become. My choices not only affected me but all of those around me. I had drifted far away from the truth of a loving Father. I had compromised my morals and beliefs. There is no one to blame for these choices, except myself. This is about the journey back home… about the mistakes that led back to the Father’s arms.
