Review
Kate Campbell
What a delight it was to return to this childhood favourite. First published in 1894 and never out of print, Seven Little Australians truly is one of the great classics. The reader cannot help but be charmed by Ethel Turner’s wonderful characters – especially the very cheeky Judy. The children are extremely bold and embark on all sorts of amusing adventures (and misadventures). Despite a range of disagreements between various members of this sometimes chaotic household, there is an overriding sense of the genuine warmth shared between them. Well worth revisiting and introducing to the next generation of girls and boys ages 10 and up.
