There has been much speculation by the learned and the most hopeful that life exists beyond our Earth. Existing evidence still leaves a great deal of doubt about that. A young woman called Lai-Xii could not bring herself to rely on extraterrestrial help to save humanity from what she believed to be a its incomprehensible decline into self-annihilation. Nor could she rely on the leaders of the world either to stop the decline, or to provide human kind with an alternative home if survival on Earth became impossible.

She, with her special band of collaborators and scientists, did the only thing possible; modify the human biological organism to make it suitable to live and multiply off the planet, and take the people to their new home. The consequences of her success did not feature in her great plan, nor could she have ever conceived of what would happen, either on Europa or on Earth.

In the fullness of time and through her continued actions the question of life, actual intelligent and self-aware life, the necessary condition of the universe as we perceive it, was revealed. We are not alone.
