A dog’s sense of smell is 100,000 times stronger than that of humans. Buckley is a young and successful detector dog that works at the Brisbane Airport alongside his soon-to-be-retired mentor and fellow detector dog, Sarge. His best friend Bo, a cruisy Californian mouse, is the constant instigator of shenanigans. Buckley’s enthusiasm and passion for his job often mask his feelings of self-doubt which he has as a result of being bullied by his older brothers when he was a pup. Buckley is extremely dedicated to the work he does at the airport. One day he is shocked when he uncovers one of the biggest animal smuggling shipments the airport has ever seen. The sole survivor is a Chameleon named Ciara. Her shocking revelations of the horrendous conditions from which she came from effect Buckley in such a way that it ignites a fire in him to head off on mission, going against all his obedience training in order to reunite Ciara with her family and expose the underbelly of the illegal animal trade. Buckley, Bo and Ciara successfully sneak out of the airport and stowaway on the next flight to Thailand. The trio face perilous situations and encounter remarkable characters in their travels. Some are warm and welcoming whilst others are not so hospitable.
A disastrous encounter with a gang of unruly animals sees the end to one of the main characters. Stricken with grief, Buckley finds the inspiration to carry on and reunite Ciara with her family. He discovers the true identity behind the smuggling operation and is shocked to realise this villain is someone he already knew. Buckley confronts those responsible for hurting so many animals and an epic battle scene plays out. Triumphantly returning to Australia, Buckley realises that even when faced with adversity and overwhelming feelings of self-doubt and fear, it is possible to summon the strength to push through the biggest challenges which life can throw at you in order to do what you believe is right.
