The Motherhood Project aims to celebrate the maternal experience in all its diversity. The project came about in recognition of the growing need to re-establish the ‘village’ for the modern world. We hope that by showcasing the experiences of motherhood we can provide a small insight into the shared spaces that mothers occupy. We also hope that in reading this book you will recognize elements of your experience in some stories and appreciate the diversity of others. Through this collection we aim to inspire a sense of togetherness among women and their communities.

This book is a product of 1000 tales co-op ltd. 1000 tales is a cooperative that aims to provide an outlet for storytelling that reflects the lived experiences of culturally and linguistically diverse people. 1000 tales was formed to create an ecosystem in which stories that are not usually told can be nurtured. We hope to create a platform by which people can share these stories through beautiful books, magazines and other publications that honour the energy, memory and ceremony of their particular experience.

1000 tales is a not for profit and all proceeds from the sale of this book will be used to fund further projects.
