Young Tim is in utero and his life is coloured by a world going on outside the womb. His birthing experience is an event in itself and his dysfunctional family receives him as best it can. The Catholic education system rolls over him too but he does not suffer the indignities of sexual abuse that some classmates encounter. His story is buffered with humour and he never loses hope despite obstacles being placed in the path of this ordinary hero. Although it is a male story, Tim has a dose of feminine attributes as well as a masculine devotion to football. Perhaps there is more love in this world than Tim has been led to believe.
