Mackenzie is an almost 30 year old woman living through her second battle with cancer. Her teenage years were put on hold whilst she endured a gruelling chemotherapy regime. While other girls her age were going on their first dates, Mackenzie just hoped her hair would grow back in time for graduation.

In remission, Mackenzie commenced her career as a Registered Nurse. Her career would be short-lived: her cancer returned just as her life was getting started.

Mackenzie now spends her days living with extreme caution. She will not get into an argument with her head-strong sister for fear that she will die before it is resolved. She will not be with the man she loves because it will break her heart when she inevitably comes to the end.

Cancer does not just effect Mackenzie; it has a ripple effect throughout her family. By denying herself the joy of living, for fear of dying, she denies it for her family, too.
