The true story of one man's journey in missionary service and some of the challenges he faced managing a mission aviation program in Papua New Guinea for three years during 2005 - 2007. With many photographs included, it provides an historical account of that period.
Already an experienced pilot and missionary pastor, he nevertheless found himself feeling out of his depth leading an organisation thrown into turmoil by two accidents which claimed the lives of three pilot colleagues. Aware of evil intentions to undermine and destroy the ministry, he is constantly reminded of God's gracious hand at work in the midst of tragedy, even when he finds his own resources stretched to the limit. The author explores in some detail some of the management and operational challenges faced, and provides good insights into the practical aspects of an aviation operation serving the remote communities of PNG, while not camoflaging the mental health and burnout dangers faced.
An honest and personal account of what it means to be a leader in a demanding cross-cultural Christian ministry. This story will be of real interest to people with an interest in aviation in remote areas, and Christians considering missions. The backdrop to the story is the battle against being overcome by the stresses involved.
