This is the story of a love triangle between Caroline Fischer and her husband Phil of Ulverstone Tasmania and Sahashi Kazuyoshi (Kao) of Kyoto Japan, all aged in their late 60's. Caroline and Kao met on a cruise to South East Asia both thinking this was a shipboard romance but after the voyage ended they realised they had fallen in love. Their relationship spanned the oceans between Tasmania and Japan and involved fraud at the highest level, threats to their lives and misconceptions, assumptions and judgements based on their cultural differences however, they were able to overcome all of these issues which strengthened their love. Each had to question their own motives, accept the other's cultural identity and learn from each other. In the end they all had to accept that goodbyes are an eventuality of life and Caroline, Kao and even Phil endured the pain this brought to each one of them.
