The Yorkshireman is a delightful true story about the life of Arnold Stuart Hinchcliffe. Arnold started his memoir and his daughter, Alison, researched and pieced together his remaining adventurous life story, to honour her father.
Arnold was born in Walton, a small coal mining village in England, where the family faced many difficulties during WW2. Growing up in the seaside town of Deal, Arnold's dream was to see the world.
In typical Yorkshireman style, Arnold colourfully recounted his stories of travelling around the world in the Merchant Navy and working as a Queen's Guard in the 1950s. Throughout his life, he often returned to his roots, working in the Pits as a coal miner where he fought for better pay and conditions.
A compelling story of a talented boxer and an honest, hard-working family man. He was proud to be from "Gods own country" (Yorkshire) but wasn't scared to take risks in search of a better life for his family. His story will entertain and move you.
