Lyla and the Mermaid’s Message is a beautifully illustrated picture book about inclusion, diversity and acceptance. Through this story, the message is clear that it’s okay to be different and unique and to respect that in others as well.
Being a picture book, it is aimed at little ones in those wonderful formative years when they believe what the significant people in their lives tell them. This book plants positive seeds that they can take forward with them. The message itself is ageless, and those reading the book with their little ones will also benefit from the reminder.
Resounding praise
The first reaction in reading Lyla and the Mermaid’s Message to my granddaughter was truly priceless . Your book is amazing, or should I say magilovcreatiful . She has dyslexia and faces school bullying and the challenges of being co-parented. The story beautifully combines her issues, takes her favourite pearls and crystals, and demonstrates to her why she is so drawn to them and their uniqueness.
The messages of love, it’s okay to be different and to believe in yourself are beautifully combined and something every child needs to hear and believe in more often. The gift of reading and being read to by those you love is soothing and comforting. There is a message for all of us, no matter how old we are.

I have read this book and would highly recommend it to all readers of any age group. The storyline and the beautiful illustrations sent out a real message for people to understand that it is alright to be unique and different from others. It’s about a little girl and a mermaid who helps her to understand acceptance of being different. I am looking forward to the next book and the continuing story.
