Bodies of the South

Nineteen-year old Australian, Alex, is recovering in a New Orleans hostel-bunk from a fight he lost and can’t remember. He is kept from sleep by an enigmatic Nicaraguan refugee who gives him some of his AIDS medication and offers him an introduction to the strange and terrible heart of broke-America. Each morning he wakes up from other people’s bad dreams. He is down to his last scam and close to the edge. The country aches with desperation and snatched joys. The food is fast, the dream is fading and Alex pinballs around the South looking for the way out. He is determined to stay alive and stay Alex. Bodies of the South is the story of a young man who survives in a bad place and in a bad time.
