Pacific Asia in the Global System: An Introduction

This volume looks at Japan’s role in the Pacific Asian sphere and, in turn, that spheres role in the evolving global system. It provides a critical analysis of the political economy, social institutions and culture of Pacific Asia. The book focuses primarily on Japan, but also looks at the distinctiveness of the inner periphery of South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong as well as the more dispersed, outer periphery comprised of the countries of Southeast Asia.
