This is the story of a young Red-shouldered hawk and the trials growing up away from his nest. After falling from the nest during a thunderstorm, the community of people around the duck pond help the baby hawk settle in to a man-made nest. The people and hawk-parents tend to the baby hawk until he learns to fly.
